Stay Home and Make Abstract Collage Art

CollageArtbyDrawAStory.jpeg

I am really happy to work with the Ministry of Social and Family Development to create a series of art activities for families to bond together as we all stay home in our fight against Covid-19. This is part of the #FriendsofFFLShare series which features videos and content from other Friends of FFL volunteers.

With simple materials you have around the house, let’s create some lovely art that you can display at home or made into greeting cards to say “thank you” or tell someone you are thinking of them. A simple and fun art project to keep the little ones happy and for the not so littles ones to get their creative juices flowing.

Families for Life (FFL)’s vision is to build strong and resilient families because that makes for stronger communities and better individual well-being.

Stay Home and Make a Paper Doll

DBCFB667-15AC-45D3-8795-7BC9575BC9F1.jpeg

I didn’t grow up with Barbie Dolls or play ‘masak-masak’ with toy kitchen sets like most little girls but would rather lose myself in a world of books, paints and brushes. The only “toy” I played with was my paper doll which my Mom made for me. She taught me how to draw and make a few pieces of clothing for the paper doll but I bet she didn’t expect that I will end up making hundreds of outfits. Probably that was an early sign of my affinity with fashion illustration.

It was one of my fondest memories of my childhood and my time with my Mom. So when the Ministry of Social and Family Development asked if I can help to create some art activities that can help families bond together as we all stay home in our fight against Covid-19, I just knew that making paper dolls would be one of them. So here’s a video showing you how you can make your very own paper doll.

If you love fashion and perhaps dreamt of being a fashion designer or stylist, you would love this. So go ahead, give this a try and have fun!

Live Illustration at Loro Piana Made to Order Shoe Launch Event

FullSizeRender.jpeg

I was invited recently to illustrate for Loro Piana when they launched their exclusive Made To Order Shoes in Singapore. Customers each received a unique art piece featuring their personalised pair of shoes set in one of three scenarios to depict how these iconic shoes are both stylish and versatile, be it in a bustling city, a balmy seaside or an idyllic countryside.

It was such a pleasure to draw and paint the exact same pair of shoes that will be made exclusively and personalised for their customers. Just the perfect little gift for them to take home in anticipation of their perfect pair of shoes to be made in Italy and be ready in 6 to 8 weeks‘ time.

Personalised Monograms at MCM Private Event

20190917_195539.jpeg

I had as much fun Live Monogramming at the MCM flagship store as my usual live fashion illustration.

By the way, did you know that MCMwas initially named after Michael Cromer who founded and  launched the brand in Munich. It was later on when it was acquired by Korean entrepreneur Sung-Joo Kim, then it was renamed Mode Creation Munich. It doesn’t really matter I guess, as MCM still stands for luxury travel goods that embodies the bold, irreverent and aspirational for many of its fans.

Would you have guessed that these leather bag tags and cotton totes were all hand painted freehand and without using any stencils? I had actually brought along a ruler and masking tapes but found that I didn’t need them after all.

Live Fashion Portraits for Piaget

Always a delight to be drawing again for Piaget's guests as they viewed and tried on the watches which was generously donated for an auction at the Singapore Red Cross Benefit Gala in October. Swipe to see more of the portraits drawn live during the event as well as the 2 gorgeous timepieces being donated - the Limelight tonneau-shaped Full Diamond Watch and the Piaget Gouverneur watch.

Live Fashion Illustration for Club21

live-fashion-illustration-club21.jpeg

Spent two lovely weekend afternoons drawing for some fabulous ladies for Club21. The best part is that they were dressed in looks from some of my favourite designers.

From the sleek minimalism of Jil Sander or the fluid elegance of Stella McCartney to the easy sophisticated looks of 3.1 Phillip Lim and Marni’s quirky clash of prints, I love drawing them all! So thank you, Club21 , for having me at your event to capture all these incredible looks in my illustrations.
